Efforts to retain the glory of Buea as one of the cleanest cities in Cameroon have been intensified. This was during a massive clean-up campaign which took place earlier today August 28, 2024, initiated by the Governor of the South West Region Bernard Okalia Bilai and supervised by the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako Mr Viang Mekala, the Divisional Officer for Buea Mr Abba Abdouraman, as well as 1st Madam Molinge Minerva , 2nd Mr Mosoko Edward , 3rd Chief Marcus Motuve and Madam Vevanje Magdalene 4th deputy mayor of the Buea Council, the campaign equally had the presence of the paramount chief of Buea chief Dr Rpobert Esuka Endeley.
This keep Buea clean saw the participation of Buea chiefs and their traditional council, taxi drivers’ syndicates, truck drivers’ union, traders and denizens, as in most areas the various local authority were in charge of the coordination of works.
The SDO and his entourage made a stop at some key locations around the municipality of Buea which are; checkpoint, OIC market, Buea Town market and Muea market, where the SDO expressed his satisfaction with the turn out of the traders. He then encourages the traders to make it a habit to keep their surroundings clean at all times, while reiterating the fact that defaulters of the clean-up campaign will see their shops sealed by the Buea Council as sanction and they will have to pay fines for it.
The population of Buea welcome the grand keep clean as the mountains of refuges that was forcefully occupying their neighbourhoods and causing much illness were all cleared up. The next rendezvous is taken for the last Wednesday of the month of September 2024.
