THE 2025 BUDGET OF THE BUEA COUNCIL STANDS AT 2.9 BILLION CFA FRANCS

Inline with Section 422(1) on the bill to Institute the General Code for Regional and Local Authorities, Councillors of the Buea Council on Thursday the 12th December 2024, examined and approved the 2025 Budget of the Buea Council.

The Budgetary session was presided over by Mr VIANG MEKALA, Senior Divisional Officer of Fako, who was attending the session for the first time since his appointment as SDO of Fako.

During the session, the Lord Mayor of the Buea Council, David Mafani Namange Esq highlighted some 2024 achievements, adding that the year under review was plagued with a series of challenges which hindered the Council from achieving it’s set goals. However, despite this, the Council was able to attain a realization rate of 69.5% as at the 6th of December 2024. 

He also used the opportunity to outlined some earmarked projects for execution for the 2025 financial year citing;

– the construction of a new Council Hall

– Reconstruction of the Bridge at the Old GCE Board

– Construction of classrooms

– Continuation of the installation of Solar lights

– Equipping of the New Buea Council Poultry farm etc

It is on these premise that the sum of 2.9 billion francs CFA was adopted as the Budget of the Buea Council to fund development projects for the 2025 financial year.

On his part, the Senior Divisional Officer of Fako exalted the Mayor and his collaborators to endeavour to prioritize the needs of the population so as to grapple with some of the challenges faced like poor road network, water scarcity, poor waste disposals etc.
