Today Friday 06th February 2026, Mayor David Mafani Namange Esq, signed a four years Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Define Life Differently (DLD), a youth-led community organization based in Buea, marking a significant step toward strengthening education, literacy, and sustainable community development within the municipality.
The agreement, signed between the Municipal Authority and DLD, represented by Mrs. Ngenang CHEYIP MOJOKO epse KULU, formalizes a shared vision centered on empowering young people through education, skills development, and access to learning resources. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to fostering literacy, promoting youth participation, and advancing initiatives that support long-term community growth.
Under the partnership, Define Life Differently will focus on improving children’s foundational reading skills, nurturing a culture of reading from an early age, and supporting academic success. The organization also plans to equip young people with relevant employability and digital skills, preparing them to participate effectively in an increasingly competitive and globalized labor market.
The Buea Council, for its part, will leverage the municipal library as a hub for learning, innovation, and youth development. By positioning the council library as a center for educational programming and skills acquisition, the partnership aims to expand access to quality learning opportunities for children and young people across the municipality.
Both parties’ officials described the MoU as a strategic collaboration that aligns community-driven initiatives with local government priorities. The partnership is expected to roll out programs that encourage reading, enhance digital literacy, and support youth empowerment, reinforcing the role of education as a cornerstone of sustainable development in Buea.
With the signing of this MoU, the Buea Council and Define Life Differently signal a renewed commitment to investing in the municipality’s future one that places young people, learning, and innovation at the heart of community progress.
