THE OFFICIAL LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF THE STATE BUDGET FOR THE 2025 FISCAL YEAR.
The official opening ceremony of operations on the State budget for the 2025 fiscal year which stood at 7,317,7 billion Francs CFA, was officially launched, on Wednesday 15th January 2025 in Buea, headquarter of the South West Region. The solemn ceremony was Chaired by H.E. Louis Paul Motaze, Honourable Minister of Finance. In attendance were the Director General of Taxation, the Director of Customs, the Governor of the South West Region, Administrative, Religious, Traditional authorities and a host of key stakeholders concerned.
In his welcome address, the Lord Mayor of the Buea Municipality, David Mafani Namange Esq, on behalf of the population of Buea, expressed his gratitude to the MINFI boss for selecting Buea to play host town to the special event. He also used the opportunity to thank him for his selfless services to the state especially when he was the General Manager of CNPS. He finally appealed to the government through the Minister to facilitate the construction of the Bekoko- Idenau, Mutengene- Buea stretch of Road.
In response, the guest of honour, H.E. Louis Paul Motaze, congratulated the South West Region for taking the lead in terms of execution of the Public Investment Budget (BIP credits) in the entire national triangle. He then announced that the budget of Cameroon for the 2025 financial year stood at 3,218 billion francs CFA showing an increase of over 2,904 billion francs CFA as compared to last year. According to this budget, the South West Region will benefit from some key projects such as:
- Rehabilitation of the Bekoko – Limbe- Idenau
- Rehabilitation of the Buea – Mutengene road;
- Construction of the Bangem – Nguti;
- Kumba – Ekondo – Titi;
- Construction of the Mermoze – Tole – Wututu – Limbe;
- The equipment of Ombe High school;
- The Rehabilitation of the Mamfe hospital;
- The construction and equipment of a mother / child care unit at Mundemba District Hospital just to name these few.
He finally urged all Cameroonians and key actors concerned to see into the realisation of the budget of the earmarked projects.
