BUEA COUNCIL HOLDS ITS 2024 FIRST ORDINARY SESSION.

The first ordinary session of the Buea Council for the 2024 financial year meant to examine and adopt the Administrative, Management and Stores Management Account for the 2024 Financial year, held at the Chambers of the Buea Council on March 28th 2024, auspices of the 1st assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Mr. AWA DIN CHE in his capacity of the supervisory sitting in for the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Mr. VIANG MEKALA, political, Religious, Traditional authorities and stakeholders of the Buea Municipality.

In opening remark, Mayor David Mafani Namange Esq. thanked the administration, the dedicated Council staff and councilors as well as the entire population of the Buea Municipality for their maximum collaboration. He presented the state of the state of the affairs of the council, despite the ongoing crisis plaguing 2 Anglophone Regions and the enormous drop from the state subsidies to the Council over five hundred and sixty millions (560,000,000), which characterized the 2023 financial year under review, yet the management of Buea Council was able to make some significant advancement in local collection, as to carry out some projects in the domains of water supply, road infrastructures, street lighting, supply of equipment to the vulnerable and primary schools within the Buea Municipality, just to name these few.

The Administrative, Management accounts stood at one billion, nine hundred eighty-nine million, five hundred and sixty-one thousand, six hundred and eighty – six FCFA (1,989,561,686) as compared to two billion, two hundred and seventy-four million, million, seven hundred and thirty thousand, four hundred and seventy-seven (2,274,274,730,477). Considering this drop strides as from last year, some management promised to make that all avenues of collection and investment of the council will be looked upon so as provide amenities for the municipality for the year 2024, while councilors and the staff of the Buea Council were urged to redouble efforts in their various place of work so as to contribute effectively to the development of the municipality.
