Wednesday 20th July 2022 was an historic day for the Buea council and the American Embassy in Cameroon as H.E Christopher John Lamora the US Ambassador for Cameroon was received in audience by David Mafani Namange Esq Mayor of the Buea council. In his official visit to the Buea municipality the Us senior diplomat was received by David Mafani Namange Esq mayor of the Buea Council with municipal councilors and some denizens present for the ceremony.
In his words of welcome the lord Mayor of Buea municipality gave a brief historic background of the all time Capital city in Cameroon, the hospitable nature of her population and the achievements of these people. He called on H.E Christopher J Lamora in the status of Honorable denizen of Buea to see into the developmental issues presented to him.
On his own part the H.E Christopher J Lamora expressed his gratitude to the invitation extended to him some time ago in his residence during the launching of the US campaign to fight malaria in Cameroon. He said the US is willing to work with Cameroon, and Buea as a town and young democracy to see her develop but will not in any way give an orientation on what to be done. He talked on the return of US Peace Corps program by the end of the year, and how some specific issues will be channeled to the experts that be to see how to go about them.
In exchange with some councilors and the director of C.O.I.C, ideas shared were all welcomed and room created for further developmental talks on how synergies can be put in place to foster peace and development within the South West Region and Cameroon in general.
The visit ended on a cocktail table offered to the guest by his host in the honor of his historic visit to the Buea Council.
