A NEW ERA FOR THE CIVIL STATUS REGISTRY

Tuesday 27th June 2023, marked the beginning of a new era of the Civil Status registry as it goes digital for the Buea Municipality.
The Buea Council today represented the 1st Deputy Mayor AKAWOH MINERVA EPSE MOLINGE, the Second Deputy Mayor MOSOKO EDWARD MOSOKE and the 3rd Deputy CHIEF MARCUS MOTOVE ETONGE, received from the Germann Cooperation / GIZ-PAMEC some equipment to facilitate the digitalization of birth, marriage, death certificates and other related civil status documents. It is worth mentioning that this process began some couple of years with the training and sensitization of council officials and workers on the functionality of the system. It is in that light that on Tuesday 20th June Lord Mayor David Mafani Namange Esq, signed a partnership agreement in Yaoundé with the German Cooperation for the implementation of this process.
Buea Council is one of the pilot councils in the country to start this process. The digitalization of the Civil Status is aimed at securing and harmonizing the entire national Civil Status and at the same time proving easy access to the users of these documents wherever that they might be.
